How does it work?
By using intentional tremors to unwind to our natural state, we follow our bodies path to least resistance. Lying comfortably on the floor we are coached into following the expression of our bodies energy sources in a safe environment with clear rules. By allowing our body to speak to us, we reveal the story of how we truly are feeling at this moment in time. The flowmatics journey without words invites for a different way of thinking and experiencing. Scope and depth will grow through practise.
Why do it?
Reduce stress in the spine, neck, shoulders and pelvis with immediate benefit. When tension is released anywhere in the body, the brain registers a reduction in pain signals, producing new hormones which promotes healing. Stress is both physical, emotional and mental, since you are connected as one being. When out of balance or in tension, the mind can be restless and flooded with information whilst emotions drain the system of energy. When taking the time to connect and engage using the practise to unwind the body, our natural state emerges and stored energy is released helping us to increase our potential.
Pandiculation is a fancy word for a stretch that naturally occurs when yawning and stretching. Every animal with a vertebra does this several times a day especially when rising from sleep. There is a huge difference between stretching and pandiculation. Stretching mostly involves single muscle focus addressed rationally and generally doesn't involve the nervous system. You can have a conversation whilst stretching for example.
Pandiculation demands full attention and involves muscle groups, it resets the connection between the nervous system and the muscular system. In the unwind sessions we are coached to connect to the intrinsic urge of the body to restore through pandiculation. This present creation of movement involves strong new sensory information for the brain, connecting and resetting muscle memory and motor control deeply in our conscious and sub-conscious system.
Because it is you living in your body and everything is wired and connected, it ends up addressing our physical, psychological and emotional experiences whilst rapidly releasing tension from our body.
Emotional release doesn't mean people are beating pillows screaming their heads off. Emotional release allows for physical energy release through tremor. In our society there is not really an opportunity or time to release stored emotional energy and therefore energy can get stuck in our tissue over time, challenging our well being.
Our current western system and way of educating is not used to trusting a process of letting go in this way and views it as chaotic or out of control. Dangerous? no, not at all. But what happens if I let go and loose myself? You may loose the current perception of yourself that is stuck in time, resulting in unlocking new ways, opening new doors which is an experience of liberation and new available energy. we experience change by exploring uncomfortable areas. Trusting the process and allowing the mind to take a backseat as observer results in restoring and unwinding instantly. Whilst letting go of control from the thinking frontal lobe, you are still in control of the process physically and can step out any moment by stopping the tremor at will. Like any experience, it is one to experience rather than to rationalise, Allowing for vitality and restoration.
